Lake Heart Pavilion × Where History Meets Romance

Lake Heart Pavilion is the most iconic landmark of Taichung Park, built in 1908 (during the Japanese colonial period) to celebrate the completion of the entire North-South Railway line. The European-style architecture stands in the center of the lake with its reflection swaying on the water, creating a romantic scene for many couples taking photos and boating.

This pavilion once hosted Japanese royalty Prince Kan'in Kotohito for an overnight stay. In 1999, it was officially designated as a municipal historic site. Currently well-preserved, along with the nearby Zhongshan Bridge, it forms the most historically rich corner of the park.

Moon Viewing Pavilion × The Only Remaining Relic of Taiwan Prefecture City

Moon Viewing Pavilion was built in 1889, originally a relic of the North Gate among the eight city gates of the Qing Dynasty Taiwan Provincial Capital. After surviving the demolition wave during the Japanese colonial period, it remains the only survivor today. The plaque "Welcoming Gods with Music" inside the pavilion was personally inscribed by Huang Chengyi, a Qing Dynasty Taiwan County Magistrate, making it one of the most historically significant artifacts in the entire park (the on-site display is a replica, with the original housed in the Niumatou Site Cultural Park).
